Bladder Cancer Expertise

At Stanford, the Urologic Cancer team is focused on a multidisciplinary approach to each patient. This includes using advanced diagnostics, highest quality surgical techniques, continent urinary tract reconstruction, minimally invasive and robotic techniques, novel therapeutics, and inclusive care. Our physicians are recognized experts in the care of locally advanced and metastatic bladder cancer, and are leaders in urologic clinical research.

  • Advanced imaging capabilities, using new traces for detection of early and advanced disease.
  • Multidisciplinary tumor board including surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation therapists, pathology and radiology specialists who together review patient clinical records and provide comprehensive treatment recommendations.
  • Minimally invasive, robotic surgery including robotic cystectomy (removal of the bladder) which may minimize blood loss and speed recovery.
  • Neobladder and continent urinary reconstruction for patients requiring bladder removal, using tissues from your own intestine.
  • Monthly urologic cancer support group meetings including lectures
