Cancer Clinical Trials Office
The Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO) provides regulatory, administrative, research, and educational services to Cancer Center investigators conducting clinical trials. Programs of the resource serve to increase awareness and accrual to clinical trials as well as to improve the quality and efficiencies of conducting clinical trials in compliance with regulatory, documentation, and oversight requirements.
The goals and services of the CCTO are to:
- Facilitate clinical trials and translational research by providing regulatory and administrative support to all Cancer Center investigators . Services include protocol development consultation; regulatory documentation preparation and tracking; study budget preparation and management; safety and protocol violation reporting; clinical research staff hiring, orientation, and training; and study initiation, auditing, and monitoring assistance.
- Enhance and facilitate data collection and reporting of clinical cancer research . The CCTO is responsible for the oversight of and data entry into the Oncore database of clinical trials. Staff design and develop customized case report forms and reports in Oncore , provide quality assurance services, and collaborate with Biostatistics and Informatics on data-related applications.
- Provide programs to contribute to quality assurance and the ongoing education of Cancer Center Clinical Research Personnel. Programs include monthly staff meetings, educational programs, and standard operating procedure development and dissemination.
- Coordinate outreach efforts in the community to increase clinical trials awareness and accrual. The CCTO maintains a list of open protocols, publishes a quarterly booklet of open trials, maintains a web site, and operates a phone line. Educational programs focused on the community, minorities, and underserved populations are coordinated. The CCTO assists with the administration of the ECOG Affiliates Program of six community institutions.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaborations and translational medical research . Programs include a monthly clinical trials forum, co-management of a research laboratory in the Clinical Cancer Center building, and communications to investigators of research opportunities and potential collaborations.
