2013 Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Cancer Innovation Fund Awards
As one outcome of the Cancer Services strategic planning process, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) will create an Innovation Fund to support highly innovative research projects that have the promise to improve the lives of cancer patients.
This opportunity is available to all Stanford faculty and CPIC investigators who are members of the Cancer Institute and are eligible to conduct such research.
Projects must be directly patient-oriented and have the potential to provide significant clinical impact on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment or survival of cancer patients.
An Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol for the study must be submitted prior to submitting an application and funding of approved projects will start following approval by the IRB and the SCI’s Scientific Review Committee (SRC).
A special committee will review all applications and scores will be based on the 9-scale NIH rating system. Criteria for selection include: degree of innovation, potential to have a major impact on cancer patients, availability of the patient population to be studied, appropriate metrics to evaluate the outcome, and qualifications of the investigators.
