Prostate Cancer

A major focus of CEP research is identifying the genetic role in prostate cancer occurrence. To date, chromosomes 19p and 5q have been implicated. Further work is underway to narrow the regions on these chromosomes by tripling the number of markers and perform linkage analysis to exclude subregions with low lod scores.

Researchers are also collaborating on multi-center studies to correlate increased prostate cancer risk with specific geographic areas, as well as biological factors such as the C-peptide/fructosamine ratio and levels of C-peptide and serum insulin.
