Screening Techniques
Researchers are working to improve screening techniques for a number of cancers. Areas of interest include:
- breast cancer screening in genetically high-risk women using MRI, ductal lavage and the analysis of genomic biomarkers
- lung cancer screening using low-dose CT as a cost-effective strategy
- bladder cancer screening using microsatellite analysis of urinary sediment as a replacement for cystoscopy
- free skin cancer screenings for older individuals without regular access to medical care and with skin cancer risk factors
- the extent of missed invasive and in situ melanomas such as lentigo maligna, as well as new strategies for improving reporting and surveillance
