Exercise
Program member conduct a broad range of studies to evaluate the connection between physical activity and cancer incidence. The goal of this work is to develop community-based, behavioral approaches that increase physical activity among at-risk populations.
Recent studies have evaluated:
- the benefits of moderate-intensity exercise accumulated in five 30-minute sessions over one week, versus the "Weekend Warrior" approach of two 75-minute sessions on two consecutive days
- the effectiveness of actigraphy units, pedometers and other physical activity assessment tools for use in community-based research and behavioral modification programs
