Research InterestDr. Fan studies how turning off oncogenes (cancer genes) can cause tumor regression in preclinical and clinical studies. Based on preclinical findings, she has initiated a clinical trial studying atorvastatin for the treatment of patients with certain non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. In the laboratory, she also uses preclinical models of cancer to validate new nanotechnology strategies for tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Research InterestMy laboratory investigates how oncogenes initiate and sustain tumorigenesis. I have developed model systems whereby I can conditionally activate oncogenes in normal human and mouse cells in tissue culture or in specific tissues of transgenic mice. In particular using the tetracycline regulatory system, I have generated a conditional model system for MYC-induced tumors. I have shown that cancers caused by the conditional over-expression of the MYC proto-oncogene regress with its inactivation.

Research InterestBeverly Mitchell's research relates to the development of new therapies for hematologic malignancies. She has a long-standing interest in IMPDH as a therapeutic target and has published extensively on the regulation of this enzyme and the potential role of inhibitors in the treatment of leukemia in preclinical studies.

Research InterestMy research interest is on immunotherapy of cancer. I have studies the mechanism of monoclonal antibody therapy of patients with lymphoma and am currently working on designing the next generation of engineered anti-tumor antibody based on the known mechanism to overcome resistance. I am also interested in tumor vaccine and plan to devise a novel strategy to use antibody-coated tumor cells/dendritic cells as a therpeutic vaccine.
