Research & Scholarship

Current Research and Scholarly Interests

My research focuses on identifying molecular and epidemiologic factors underlying cancer susceptibility and outcomes in order to improve prevention, detection, and treatment. I am especially interested in hormone-related cancers including cancers of the breast, ovary, and prostate. I currently lead a study to identify genetic and modifiable lifestyle factors for mammographic breast density in 30,000 women participating in Kaiser’s Research Program on Genes, Environment and Health. I also actively collaborate with international cancer consortia, and am currently developing methods to improve the prioritization of sequencing variants to help identify novel prostate cancer genes.
