Cancer of the Nasopharynx Expertise

Nose and Throat Cancer (Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma)

The Nasopharyngeal Cancer clinical care and research program at the Stanford Cancer Institute is one of the largest and most active in North America. Through the development of biomarkers we maintain high overall cure rates and personalized treatments based on an individual patientís risk. We maintain a superlative integrated program of chemotherapy and radiation using both experimental drugs and novel sequencing of drugs and radiation to maximize anti-tumor effect while minimizing toxicity.

For the occasional patient whose tumor inadequately responds to chemotherapy and radiation, surgeons in our head and neck oncology program have championed innovative techniques to curatively resect residual tumors from the nasopharyngeal regions. Our program includes experts in nutrition and supportive care, dentistry, maxillofacial surgery and reconstruction.
