Description

The Stanford Cancer Center invites graduate students and postdoctoral students (residents, clinical fellows and research fellows) from Stanford University, the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and the University of California at UC Davis (UCD) to attend the Second Comprehensive Cancer Research Training Program.

The Stanford Cancer Center will host this course Sunday, September 14 - Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the Quadrus Conference Center on 2400 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, California.

This year, nationally and internationally renowned Stanford and UCSF faculty will present dynamic, educational lectures on current topics of basic, translational and clinical cancer research.  At the end of each day a faculty member will lead a discussion with the audience on specific scientific issues related to the earlier presentations.

Registered trainees will have an opportunity to present their own research posters following the opening session on Sunday, September 14.  The trainee poster session is an excellent opportunity to discuss research with fellow trainees and attending faculty.

What trainees said about the first CCRTP, hosted in September 2007:

“The program was exceptional – one of the best collection of talks I’ve ever seen.” –Postdoctoral Scholar

“This is the most comprehensive conference combining clinical and basic research, yet also pertinent topics for trainees that no one ever talks about. Furthermore, it has done a great job at fostering interactions between trainees from so many different backgrounds!” –Resident

“This conference is insanely high-yield. I’m so glad we have access to slides and videos because there are many talks I want to see again and many I want to share with those who weren’t able to attend (lab mates, etc.). The topics covered were comprehensive. I’ve heard some similar lectures before but to have them all immediately juxtaposed creates a synergy that takes cancer education to the next level.” –Graduate Student
