October 2010 Funding Opportunities

Center for Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence and Translation (CCNE-T) Pilot Project
Program guidelines: http://med.stanford.edu/rmg/funding/CCNE_T_pilot_projects.html
Please note: This is a separate announcement under a new grant CCNE-T and NOT Stanford Center for Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence Focused on Therapy Response (CCNE-TR).  The CCNE-TR pilot projects have already been established for 2010.  This new CCNE-T pilot project announcement will begin in October 2010.
Deadline: Friday, Oct. 15, 2010
Amount of Funding/Budget Information: Applicants may request from $30,000 - $35,000 in total direct costs for a 9-month duration of the supplemental Pilot Projects under this program.
Up to 2 applicants will be selected for funding.  Each Pilot Project will be a 9-month duration project and continuation of a project beyond its first year will be contingent upon the success of the previous year.  Once all required documents are received, the selected candidates will have a funding period from 11/1/2010 – 7/31/2011.
Purpose: The vision of CCNE-T is to bring together researchers from various disciplines to form synergistic teams that will make significant advances in developing and validating nanotechnology that will impact cancer diagnosis, therapy and management.  Members of these teams will include trainees that will gain access to a highly multidisciplinary experience, and who will become well equipped to establish independent, multidisciplinary research programs.  Projects will mainly include those that have a high potential for linking nanotechnology to pre-clinical imaging models for improved cancer patient management.  This program is funded through the NIH/NCI U54 grant.
Submitting an Application: Applicants should submit one electronic copy as an e-mail attachment in PDF format to Billie Robles in the Radiology Department at brobles@stanford.edu

(Do not include time spent as an acting professor.) If you were an assistant professor at another institution prior to coming to Stanford then you must calculate the overall three-year period from the date of that initial appointment. approved by the Provost Office.
(NTLR faculty, Instructors, clinical instructors, clinical educator line faculty are not eligible).
Candidates must show promise of becoming leaders in the research in the cure and treatment of diseases in the fields of cancer, immunology and neuroscience.
We prefer candidates who are in the early stages of their careers; "most likely this would mean a recent appointment at a faculty level"
