Population Science Research

The Stanford Cancer Institute works with CPIC, the Cancer Prevention Institute of California (formerly known as the Northern California Cancer Center) to reduce the burden, mortality and morbidity of cancer through interdisciplinary research into the etiology of different cancers and the development of evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies.

Located in Fremont, CA, the Cancer Prevention Institute of California houses administrative and research space, the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and the offices of the Greater Bay Area Cancer Registry and Cancer Information Service programs.

Stanford research by the Department of Health Research and Policy and the Stanford Prevention Research Center is carried out on campus in the Redwood Building and the Medical School Office Building. Interactions among the Stanford and CPIC faculty are facilitated by teleconferencing capability at both institutions.
