Population Science Research

The Stanford Cancer Center works with the Northern California Cancer Center to reduce the burden, mortality and morbidity of cancer through interdisciplinary research into the etiology of different cancers and the development of evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies.

Located in Union City, the Northern California Cancer Center (NCCC) houses administrative and research space, the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and the regional offices of the California Cancer Registry and Cancer Information Service programs.

Stanford research by the Department of Health Research and Policy and the Stanford Prevention Research Center is carried out on campus in the Redwood Building and the Hoover Pavilion. Interactions among the Stanford and NCCC faculty are facilitated by teleconferencing capability at both institutions.
