Stem Cell Engraftment

Researchers are investigating the processes that govern stem cell engraftment in both autologous and allogeneic transplantations. Key areas of interest include how transplanted cells home to the bone marrow, how they reestablish the production of blood and immune cells once there and what factors impede successful engraftment, such as histocompatibility barriers between transplanted donor cells and the patient.
